“Now, fresh air can be painted!”

tobacco smoke and food odours, emanations from furniture and carpets not only smell unpleasant, they often spread bacteria and harmful substances. With “Frischeweiß” (fresh white), Auro, the only manufacturer up to now, offers a wall paint that cleans the air of odours and harmful substances.

“Now, fresh air can be painted!” – This is the advertising slogan of the Braunschweig company Auro Pflanzenchemie AG for its wall paint “Frischeweiß”. What sounds somewhat grandiose at first was confirmed by both the “Institut der technischen Chemie” in Hanover as well as by the “Shanghai Institute for Measuring and Testing Technology (SIMT)”: the photo catalytic effect of “Auro Frischeweiß” which even decomposes formaldehyde.

According to the manufacturer, this functions quite simply: the special combination of the raw materials in “Frischeweiß” acts as a catalyser which splits up odours and harmful substances from the air into neutral substances with the assistance of light. This works best with daylight, but artificial light sources are just as suitable. Another advantage: the process of decomposition does not wear out, but the degree of effectiveness remains constant over the entire life span of the coat of paint. As with all rooms, those painted with “Frischeweiß” should also be regularly aired so that the odours to be decomposed come into contact with the wall paint through the air movements.

In this way, the new wall paint not only provides visible freshness and cleanness, but also breaks down harmful substances, odours and germs effectively thanks to its photo catalytic, air-cleaning effect. According to the manufacturer, “Auro Frischeweiß” is an odourless white wall paint free of solvents that may also be tinted in pastel tones using lime casein colours. It is very economical, too: with 10 litres, up to 100 m² of surface can be painted. “Auro Frischeweiß” is available in 5 and 10-litre packing drums, retail prices as of approx. 40 euros (5 litres) and 70 euros (10 litres).
