GreenHanger

The wire hanger – to hang with it!

When the plastic foil, the clips and co. have been removed from your suit, the biggest challenge from the cleaner’s still awaits you: the wire hanger. 25 million kilograms of this nasty construct land in German dumps each year. They may leave permanent scars and they have been the end of many a garbage bag. They are chiefly made of zinc and require decades before they decompose.

But the end of these wiry companions is nigh. The GreenHanger, an ecological clothes hanger out of 100 percent recycled corrugated cardboard, is to conquer the dry cleaning business. Matthias Bauer, former head of ntv marketing, invented the ecological disposable clothes hanger. The hangers will be distributed in the dry cleaner’s free of charge as there is space for advertising on the cardboard surface of the hanger. The mail-order company Otto and the cinema group Cinestar are already convinced of the concept. In 50 Berlin laundry shops, suits, shirts and costumes are already hanging on the cardboard hangers with their own personal advertising. Customers can dispose of the GreenHanger together with their daily newspapers, or let it hang with the other hangers in the cupboard for a while…

From October onwards, the printable GreenHangers can be registered for those wishing to advertise.
