Chic und zero impact

Carmina Campus Recycled Bags

Social Status Symbol

Those who always wanted to have a Fendi bag, but not exactly the same one as Aunt Doris - and particularly those who are sick of the question "is it a genuine Fendi?" can breathe a sigh of relief. There is a series of "other" genuine Fendi bags. Ilaria Venturi Fendi was the creative director of the young accessory line in the family imperium before she relinquished her interests, bought a country estate just on the outskirts of Rome and did organic farming from that time on. Carmina Campus ('chants of the field' in Latin) became the leitmotif of her new lifestyle and since 2000 a model for her own design project.

Bags had already been Ilaria's creative forte at Fendi; nowadys she is realising exceptional ideas for the very fashionable 'zero-impact' models of Carmina Campus. The original bags are a mixture of ethnic folklore (from cooperative productions), unusual recycling materials (carpets, leftover bits of material, ethnic souvenirs, etc.) and traditional handicraft work 'made in Italy', which guarantees for the quality of the object. The different bag series (in limited editions, depending on the availability of the materials) are called, for example, BAOBAGS, SPORTMAS, DIS-ARMY BAGS or MOCIO BAGS, following the source of inspiration or the relief project to which they are contributing. Each bag has a certificate that tells its story, the origin of the materials used, who and how long it took to make the bag, etc. and may give information about the relief project connected to the bag.

Ilaria Venturini Fendi started her second designer career with the STOPFGM series; a contribution of 50 euros from each sold bag goes to the Aidos organisation (for a campaign against female genital mutilation). The limited edition and its uniqueness make the Carmina Campus bags a highly sought after object for fashion fans, and also because they are not easy to find. There is only one place of sale each in Milan, Rome, Paris and London. Carmina Campus customers should know that there is a lot of (Ilaria Venturini) Fendi in these objects, but it is not labelled. The understatement is better suited to the good conscience.
